InsideEPA's 'Dirty Bomb' Series Wins Journalism Award

Inside EPA has won the Society of Professional Journalists' 2008 Public Service In Newsletter Journalism Award for our exclusive series of articles detailing EPA plans to weaken drinking water cleanup standards in the event of a "dirty" bomb attack.

Reported by Douglas Guarino, the series uncovered draft EPA policy documents and revealed their potential impacts. His outstanding reporting on this issue is responsible, at least in part, for an increased public focus on EPA's decision-making over the policy, which is now on hold pending further review by the Obama administration.
