California lawmakers are gutting a bill aimed at bolstering carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) projects to help achieve the state’s climate change targets, rejecting arguments in favor of the measure from labor unions and industries while supporting opposition from environmentalists and equity groups. But sources say negotiations are continuing and that some provisions may be reinserted into the bill later in the legislative session.
