EPA Agrees To Require Increased Chemicals Monitoring In CWA Permits

EPA plans to require wastewater treatment plants to monitor their effluent for an increased number of chemical pollutants and notify regulators when permit limits are exceeded in response to an Inspector General (IG) report that found the agency was ineffective in controlling the discharge of “hundreds of hazardous chemicals” to surface waters.
