Industry, Texas Question Protective Assumptions In EPA Dioxin Analysis
Various industry representatives, as well as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, are questioning the conservative assumptions EPA used in its recently released draft re-assessment of the risks posed by the ubiquitous contaminant dioxin, with General Electric Co. arguing EPA's overall approach could overstate the cancer risks of dioxins and related compounds some 50-fold.
