OMB Pressing EPA To Raise Utility MACT Mercury Limit To Industry Target
White House regulatory reviewers are pressuring EPA to weaken the mercury emission limit in its imminent utility air toxics rule to a higher level proposed by the investor-owned utility group Edison Electric Institute (EEI), sources say, a move that could lead to an additional 2,000 to 4,000 pounds of mercury being emitted into the air each year.
