Pennsylvania Ruling Aids Legal Certainty For Biosolids Land Application

A recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling could enhance legal certainty for land application of biosolids because the decision clarifies that the practice of recycling sewage sludge as fertilizer is a "normal" agricultural practice and therefore covered under the state's farming liability statute -- a finding that may influence similar suits in other states that plaintiffs have filed in part to address alleged gaps in EPA regulations.
