States Seek More Flexibility Using VW Settlement Funds To Cut Emissions

States are asking EPA to expand the list of emissions reduction projects that qualify for funding under the $2.7 billion air pollution mitigation fund that Volkswagen (VW) agreed to create under a settlement with the agency over the company's alleged use of “defeat devices” for its vehicles to cheat nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions tests.
