EPA REJECTS ENVIRONMENTALISTS' PETITION ON 8-HOUR OZONE IMPLEMENTATION

EPA has rejected a petition from environmentalists to reconsider several aspects of its 8-hour ozone implementation rule and has upheld the agency's original decision to phase out the older, 1-hour standard and allow states to focus on attaining the 8-hour standard. The rejection clears the way for Earthjustice to pursue separate legal action against the agency over the rule.
