California Lawmakers Pass Most Of Newsom’s Priority Climate, Energy Bills

California lawmakers have approved most of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) high-priority climate and energy legislation, including the extended operation of the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant, a regulatory framework to advance carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects, and greenhouse gas targets for “natural and working lands.” While lawmakers also approved a measure to expand oil and gas drilling setbacks from vulnerable community zones and codify the state’s 2045 carbon neutrality target, they rejected one of Newsom’s other priority measures --...
