California Senate Advances Corporate Climate Risk, GHG Disclosure Bills

The California state Senate is advancing landmark bills to require large corporations to disclose their entire greenhouse gas emission footprints and climate change-related financial risks, with the chamber’s fiscal panel approving the measures ahead of floor consideration. The fate of both bills remains unclear, however, given that similar efforts failed last year amid strong opposition from in- and out-of-state industry.
