CARB Floats Options To Tighten LCFS Targets, Phase Out Biomethane Credit

California air officials are floating new options to tighten requirements under the state’s low-carbon fuel standard (LCFS), including hiking the overall 2030 carbon intensity (CI)-reduction target by 15 percentage points -- up to 35 percent from 2010 levels -- and phasing out credit for renewable natural gas (RNG), also known as biomethane.
