DOE Proposes Tougher Gas Furnace Efficiency Rule, Angering Industry

The Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to tighten efficiency standards for natural gas-fueled residential furnaces, issuing a standard that would effectively phase out older, “non-condensing” technology and spur greater adoption of more-efficient electric heat pumps as well as newer versions of gas furnaces.
