DOT Uses Debt Law Power To Adopt DOE’s EV Charger NEPA Exclusion

The Transportation Department (DOT) is for the first time using new authority in this year’s debt limit law to adopt another agency’s categorical exclusion (CE) that exempts many federally supported electric vehicle (EV) charging stations from detailed environmental review. DOT’s decision, outlined in a notice slated for publication in the Sept. 20 Federal Register , would adopt the charging station CE that was previously issued by the Energy Department (DOE) under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
