FERC Urged To Weigh Hydrogen Pipeline Rules Amid Climate Concerns

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are urging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to consider whether new rules are needed for pipelines transporting hydrogen, which is increasingly being viewed as an alternative to fossil fuels in the transition to a net-zero emissions economy. “Proactively investigate and determine FERC’s role in the development and regulation of interstate hydrogen transmission and storage infrastructure,” researchers at MIT’s Energy Initiative said in recent comments to the commission.
