GAO Urges Increased Hill Oversight Of DOE’s CCS Demonstration Projects

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is urging Congress to boost oversight of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) carbon capture and storage (CCS) demonstration projects, finding officials “bypassed cost controls” and engaged in a “high-risk” project selection process during its implementation of prior funding to advance the technology.
