NREL Finds Cheaper, Longer-Duration Storage Will Displace Peaker Plants

Natural gas power plants currently used to meet “peak” demand will be displaced by storage technologies whose prices are expected to go down while the duration of storage rises, according to a recent study by the Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
