IRS faces senators’ call for data on validity of coal tax credits

Three Democratic senators are pressing the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to supply data justifying its granting of tax credits to producers of chemically-treated, or “refined,” coal, with the senator citing concerns raised in a recent report by a think tank questioning whether refined coal meets required pollution cuts.
