Utilities depart UARG after Wehrum probe begins

At least three investor-owned utilities have left the Utility Air Regulatory Group (UARG), the power sector lobbying group, in the wake of House Democrats’ investigation into ties between the influential group and EPA air chief Bill Wehrum, whose former law firm represents UARG. Dominion Energy, Duke Energy and DTE Energy in recent days have dropped their membership from UARG, which lobbies on behalf of major coal-fired generators in an effort to weaken or scrap EPA rules affecting the sector.
