California Budget Bill Extends Deadlines For Oil & Gas Well-Setback Rules

California lawmakers are advancing a budget “trailer” bill that extends deadlines for implementing the state’s 2022 law requiring 3,200-foot setbacks between new or reworked oil and gas production operations and “sensitive receptors,” including for first-time air monitoring and other requirements for existing wells. The bill, AB 218 , at press time was awaiting approval by the Senate Budget & Fiscal Review Committee. Aug. 31 is the deadline for bills to be approved by the Legislature. Gov.
