DOD Finds Flaws In All Available Options For PFAS-Free AFFF Replacements

The Department of Defense (DOD) has identified six “viable” options for replacing firefighting foam made with per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) though each has significant flaws such as high cost and reliance on engineering controls rather than direct fire suppression, according to a recent DOD briefing to Congress.
