DOD Notifies Congress Of One-Year Deadline Extension To End AFFF Use

The Defense Department (DOD) has officially notified Congress that it has met the requirements to extend by one year the Oct. 1 deadline to end its use of PFAS-containing firefighting foam, citing difficulties maintaining firefighting capability and mission readiness while transitioning to PFAS-free alternatives.
