Environmentalists are scrutinizing EPA’s new health advisory level (HAL) for drinking water for the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) known as perfluorobutane sulfonic acid (PFBS) after the agency set a much less stringent level for the chemical than other health advisories and some states’ levels.
