EPA Eyes Expanded CERCLA PFAS Designation To Include More Chemicals

EPA is evaluating whether to expand its long-planned proposal to designate the two most studied per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as “hazardous substances” under the Superfund law to include a small number of additional PFAS, according to an agency source, an approach that appears to fall short of calls from state officials and EPA alumni, who have called for a broader expansion.
