EPA Projects IRA Will Result In Coal ‘No Longer Needed’ For Baseload Power

EPA is presenting initial projections that the Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) clean energy incentives could mean that coal-fired electricity will no longer be needed to provide “baseload” power generation in the coming years, and that the law could lead to a 90 percent reduction in coal plants’ overall capacity.
