EPA Proposes Rule Regulating Legacy CCR Impoundments, Inactive Landfills

EPA is seeking to regulate for the first time disposal of coal ash from coal-fired power plant sites that were previously exempt under the agency’s 2015 rule, proposing to extend those regulations to inactive legacy surface impoundments at inactive facilities and to inactive landfills as well.
