EPA Sets Aggressive Deadlines For Reviewing State Water Regulations

EPA water chief David Ross is setting strict timelines for the agency’s regions to review states’ revised water quality standards, lists of impaired waterbodies and other Clean Water Act (CWA) regulations -- a move likely to scale back federal oversight of state programs as it sets a high bar for the agency to reject such rules by the deadlines.
