Lawmakers Introduce Bill Targeting Stricter Phaseout Of Plastics Production

House and Senate Democrats have introduced companion bills that aim to limit use of plastics and to significantly strengthen regulation of manufacturing facilities, including deadlines for nationwide phaseouts of single-use plastics, steeper reuse targets, tougher emissions standards, a temporary permitting moratorium and mandatory consideration of environmental justice (EJ) concerns in permitting.
