New Mexico’s top environmental regulator is urging the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate the Energy Department’s (DOE) policies at its Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), the only geological repository for transuranic waste, as part of a broader probe into the department’s cleanup program sought by a bipartisan group of lawmakers.
