Waste Sector Joins Call For Liability Relief From Superfund PFAS Listing

The waste management sector is urging Congress to provide municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills and publicly run water systems and treatment works with a “narrow exemption” from Superfund liability if EPA lists certain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as “hazardous substances,” adding to growing calls for such waivers as EPA nears release of a proposed listing.
