Senate Democrats reject non-binding measure to bar carbon tax

All 50 Senate Democrats voted early Feb. 5 to reject a non-binding measure seeking to prohibit a federal carbon tax, a move that suggests the party wants to keep the policy option open in future legislation even as most political observers – and at least one key senator -- say carbon pricing faces an uphill battle in the near term. The amendment , offered by Sen. John Hoeven (R-ND), was rejected on a 50-50 vote as part of a “vote-o-rama”...
