EPA Floats Landmark CERCLA Plan Deeming PFOA, PFOS ‘Hazardous Substances’

EPA has released its landmark proposed rule designating two PFAS as “hazardous substances” under the Superfund law, exercising for the first time its authority to designate additional substances in a move that is expected to boost regulators’ ability to order cleanups and recover costs for the most-studied PFAS.
