CPSC Backs ‘Smolder Test’ For Furniture, Cutting Flame Retardant Use

Correction Appended The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says it has permanently adopted California’s furniture flammability standard, fulfilling a directive in the fiscal year 2021 spending bill and potentially setting up a sharp drop in use of flame retardants even as EPA weighs TSCA regulations governing several such chemicals.
