Environmentalists are asking EPA to take immediate, emergency action under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to protect communities in the karst region of Northeast Iowa from nitrate contamination, a move that if granted would expand Region 5’s recent order requiring officials in neighboring Minnesota to limit the agricultural contaminant.
