California air officials are requesting the state attorney general's (AG) office to take legal action against manufacturers of indoor air cleaning devices that emit allegedly unhealthy amounts of ozone. If pursued, the move could lead to future actions in the state against other indoor air products. EPA generally lacks authority to regulate indoor air pollution.
