STATES, ENVIRONMENTALISTS CHALLENGE EPA MERCURY RULES

New Jersey is leading a multi-state state effort to challenge EPA's final cap-and-trade mercury rule, which was published in the Federal Register May 18. Other states include California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Vermont and Wisconsin. Environmental groups including the Natural Resources Defense Council, the U.S. Public Interest Research Group, the Clean Air Task Force, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Waterkeeper Alliance and others also filed suit against the rule.
