9th Circuit tosses Keystone permit suit

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s environmental review for the controversial Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, holding that a new permit the administration has since issued has made the challenge to the prior permit moot. The ruling comes after a lower court granted environmentalist challengers significant victories earlier in the litigation, including imposing a preliminary injunction on construction.
