A new Government Accountability Office (GAO) report is casting doubt on the environmental and economic benefits of corn ethanol used to meet EPA’s renewable fuel standard (RFS) biofuel blending mandates, adding to debate over the merits of the program ahead of the agency’s imminent proposed 2020 RFS fuel production goals.
