Group projects massive GHGs from federal oil, gas drilling

The Wilderness Society is releasing first-time projections showing vast greenhouse gas emissions -- including the potent GHG methane -- that could be released when leases sold by the Trump administration for oil and gas drilling are operational. The group finds that leases sold between January 2017 and April 2019 could produce 5.2 billion metric tons of GHGs, which is more than the total annual emissions from the European Union.
