OIG urges enhanced EPA cybersecurity efforts for water systems

EPA’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is urging EPA to step up its oversight of water systems’ compliance with a number of cybersecurity mandates under America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 (AWIA), highlighting a series of recommendations for the agency after modifying some to account for EPA’s opposition to OIG’s draft advice. “If water systems do not complete risk and resilience assessments or emergency response plans, they are more vulnerable to cyberattacks and other malevolent acts,” the OIG said...
