REGULATORS DENY PG&E REQUEST TO KEEP GHG-OFFSET DEALS CONFIDENTIAL

TIAL State energy regulators have denied a request by Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PG&E) to keep under wraps details about the utility's purchases of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission-reduction credits under a pilot program allowing customers to pay more to offset their carbon footprints. The regulators disagree with the utility's arguments that disclosing the offset-project purchasing details will drive up GHG-offset prices and may lead to carbon market manipulation.
