A recent settlement between environmentalists and a large pork producer that requires hundreds of concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) to minimize polluted runoff signals modest progress in activists' protracted battle to secure stricter pollution controls for CAFOs, according to sources familiar with the pact.
