EPA CONCEDES DISPUTES WITH DOD SLOW DOWN SUPERFUND CLEANUPS

EPA is conceding that disputes with the Defense Department (DOD) over Superfund cleanup decisions are slowing down the agency's ability to complete cleanups at roughly two dozen contaminated DOD sites. The admission comes after a key House Democrat questioned whether the delays were occurring and why DOD deserved exemptions from environmental laws if the department was already failing to comply with them.
