EPA extends comment on novel lead smelters air rule

EPA is extending a public comment period from Nov. 17 until Dec. 8 on its novel plan to exempt de minimis air toxics emissions from secondary lead smelters from regulation, at the request of battery recyclers that sought additional time to formulate comments on the plan that environmental and public health groups already warn is unlawful.
